Metro Mattress to open two new stores in Western New York
Batavia and Brockport stores to open before the end of 2009
Upstate New York's largest mattress retailer, will open two new stores in Western New York this month. The first will open Dec. 22 at 4230 Veterans Memorial Drive, Batavia, N.Y. (next to GameStop and RadioShack, and in front of PETCO and Target). The other store is scheduled to open Dec. 30 at 1000 Transit Way, Brockport, N.Y. (between Spurr Chevrolet & Hess Express).
Over the past 35 years, the Syracuse-based retailer has become a local institution in several Upstate New York markets including Syracuse/Central New York (11 stores), Rochester (10 stores), Buffalo (8 stores), Albany (7 stores), Utica (2 stores) and the Southern Tier (2 stores).

Metro Mattress will have a total of nearly 200 employees at its 40 locations, which includes the new Batavia and Brockport stores. In 2000, there were only nine Metro Mattress stores and approximately 40 employees. On Jan. 14, 2010, Metro Mattress plans to open a new store in Rome, N.Y., which will bring the total number of showrooms to 41. Additional new stores and relocations are planned for 2010.
