Call for Applications for Metro Mattress’ 3rd Annual “50 Beds in 50 Days”

Syracuse, N.Y., January 18, 2012—Metro Mattress, upstate New York’s largest mattress retailer, has launched its third annual “50 Beds in 50 Days” charitable program in the Syracuse/Southern Tier region.

 

Over the past two years, Metro Mattress has donated 100 beds to 33 charitable organizations throughout the Syracuse/Southern Tier area that provide services for children in need, individuals suffering from abuse, those who are ill and in need of care, veterans, and people who are homeless or underserved. Across New York State, the program has donated 400 beds in two years to more than 171 nonprofit organizations.

 

In addition to the Syracuse/Southern Tier area, the company’s “50 Beds in 50 Days” program extends across upstate New York, with mattress donations being made to deserving organizations throughout the Buffalo, Rochester, and Albany/Mohawk Valley regions. Metro Mattress will donate a total of 200 beds by the end of 2012.

 

To be considered as a recipient of the “50 Beds in 50 Days” program, qualified 501(c)(3) organizations in the Syracuse/Southern Tier region must complete a short application form at www.metromattress.com/50beds50days. Applications must be postmarked by February 23 to be eligible.

 

“Last year, Metro Mattress received an overwhelming response for bed donations through our ‘50 Beds in 50 Days’ program,” said David Shiroff, president and CEO of Metro Mattress. “We are looking forward to kicking off another year of giving back to our community by providing a good night’s sleep to those in need of a safe and comfortable bed.”

 

In 2011, 21 organizations in the Syracuse/Southern Tier region were the recipients of the program’s mattresses, including: American Red Cross-Tompkins County, Ithaca, N.Y.; Cayuga Home for Children, Auburn, N.Y.; Chadwick Residence, Inc., Syracuse, N.Y.; Chapel House, Inc., Auburn, N.Y.; Family Enrichment Network, Inc., Johnson City, N.Y.; Heritage Farm, Inc., Bouckville, N.Y.; H.O.M.E Inc., Syracuse, N.Y.; Huntington Family Centers, Syracuse, N.Y.; Opportunities for Broome, Inc., Binghamton, N.Y.; Oswego County Opportunities, Inc. (Chemical Dependence Program), Hannibal, N.Y.; Oswego County Opportunities, Inc. (PATH Program), Oswego, N.Y.; Rescue Mission Alliance of Syracuse, Syracuse, N.Y.; The Altamont Program, Inc., Liverpool, N.Y.; The Salvation Army, Syracuse, N.Y.; Unity Acres, Inc., Orwell, N.Y.; Unity House of Cayuga County, Inc., Auburn, N.Y.; Vera House, Inc., Syracuse, N.Y.; Welch Terrace Housing, Syracuse, N.Y.; Westminster Manor, Auburn, N.Y.; YMCA Men’s Resident Program, Syracuse, N.Y.; YWCA Syracuse & Onondaga County, Inc., Syracuse, N.Y.
